South Lanarkshire Council staff praised in survey

ONLY a quarter of people are happy with maintenance of roads and pavements in South Lanarkshire, a new independent survey revealed.

And 38 per cent of the people praised South Lanarkshire Council for tackling antisocial behaviour.

But the good news for South Lanarkshire Council employees is that 94.3 per cent of people praised the friendliness of staff.

Ease of getting in touch with the council scored 90.8 per cent and knowledge of council staff 87.9 per cent

Overall satisfaction with services was 86.5 per cent – rating the council as either excellent or good.

In terms of customer satisfaction, individual services scored the highest ratings as follows:

Library services - 92.6 per cent.

Education - 88.8 per cent.

Refuse collection - 88.1 per cent.

Almost 10,000 responded to February’s survey .

Council leader Eddie McAvoy said: "Only a few weeks ago the council announced a massive £126m. eight-year investment plan to upgrade South Lanarkshire's roads network.

“We appreciate our roads network needs investment to bring it up to modern standards .

“This huge cash injection will see more than 80 per cent of roads improved across rural and urban areas.

And on the issue of tackling antisocial behaviour, the council are funding a 15-strong community policing team at an annual cost of £500,000.
