Sentence delayed on Hamilton security firm employee

SENTENCE on a Hamilton security firm employee who threatened to kill a woman has been delayed.

Marion Lang (51), made the threat to Elizabeth Chisholm by telephone in 2005 as she attempted to obtain a security contract for Lochwood Security.

Last month, following a nine-day trial, a jury found Lang guilty of attempting to extort contracts from Russell Construction in Hillhouse Industrial Estate, Hamilton, a building site in Denny and a George Wimpey housing site in Cambuslang.

Originally Lang – who defended herself throughout the trial – faced 14 charges of extortion and attempted extortion across the West of Scotland.

However, the Crown decided to drop many of the charges during the course of the trial.

Lang appeared in Hamilton Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

She advised the court that her solicitor was unable to attend.

Sheriff Marie Smart deferred sentence until next Tuesday, June 17.

Lang was released on bail meantime.
