Line dancers raise charity cash

Hamilton line dancers with their cheque for Marie Curie Cancer Care

LINE dancers from the Jock Stein Sports Centre, Hamilton, display a cheque for the £623.34 they raised for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The dancers attend South Lanarkshire Leisure line-dance classes, based in Hillhouse and East Kilbride.

They raised the money in April as part of a fund-raising event initiated by Linedancer Magazine.

Money came from the sale of Marie Curie daffodil badges, a line dance charity night and by members putting 10p in a charity box every time they danced a dedicated fund-raising dance during classes. Organisers of the classes say the warm-hearted dancers have now raised £10,000 for charity.

Line dance classes are held in the Jock Stein Sports Centre on Monday from 12.30pm–1.30pm for improvers and Friday from noon until 1pm for beginners and 1pm-2pm for improvers and all are welcome.
