Hamilton MSP slams Nat tax plan

HAMILTON South MSP Tom McCabe this week hit out at the SNP’s Local Income Tax policy.

He claims the poorest students will be worse off under the SNP’s new plans. SNP MSP John Swinney says that under his plans, students who work 21 hours or more a week would have to pay local income tax.

Speaking about the policy, Mr McCabe said: “Government should be making it easier for people from all backgrounds, to go on in education and training, which is why the Labour-led Executive offered bursaries for the poorest students.”
