Don’t sell drunks booze, warn cops

POLICE will send a letter to every pub and offsales in Hamilton, Larkhall and Blantyre, as part of a crack down on violent crime and street disorder.

The letter will warn licensed premises not to sell booze to anyone who is drunk.

Bar staff have a responsibility to customers and themselves to withhold serving alcohol if they think someone has had too much to drink.

Posters will be distributed to a number of licensed presides with the stern warning: “If You’ve Had Enough. You’ve Had Enough.

The initiative is part of Strathclyde Police’s campaign against violence.

Detective Chief Superintendent Campbell Corrigan said: “Officers, both plain and uniformed, will be visiting licensed premises and will deal with those who are drunk or who sell to those who are already drunk.”
