THE 5TH Hamilton Company of the Boys' Brigade, attached to Cadzow Parish Church, held their annual parents’ evening and presentation of awards on May 9.
Over 60 boys from P1 to S6 took part in a busy and enjoyable evening.
The boys were presented with badges and certificates for the last session, together with plaques and cups for numerous other achievements throughout the year.
Colin McCulloch gained his President’s Badge and Scott MacNab gained the Queen’s Badge, the highest award in the Boys’ Brigade. The Queen’s Badge was presented by Norman Batty, a former captain of the 5th Hamilton Company who was acting as inspecting officer in his role as Brigade vice president. Both boys were again presented with badges and certificates during the morning service on May 18.
Youngsters from Cadzow Sunday School took part in a series of games during a Sport-a-Thon in the church hall earlier this month when they raised £360 for CHAS (Children's Hospice Association Scotland). In a separate event, over £75 was raised for Christian Aid at a quiz night.
