FANS of the hit show Strictly Come Dancing will get the chance to learn a few moves for themselves at NHS Lanarkshire’s Sunday Fun Day at Strathclyde Park.
A host of activities for the family day were revealed this week, and it will include a dance marquee where eight dance instructors will teach willing members of the public how to jive, tango and rumba.
The ‘dance tent’ will see the instructors give demonstrations and lessons to people on popular dances over the past six decades with everything from swing to salsa and break-dance to ballroom.
The dance fun is part of a series of events which will take place at Sunday Fun Day to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the NHS.
The dance marquee will be one of eight in a tented village with each tent hosting various demonstrations, competitions and promotions.
The Lanarkshire public have been invited to go along to the all-weather diamond celebration birthday party and try out the activities within each marquee.
Fitness classes, rowing simulators, a football improvement area, Highland games and a climbing wall will all be available for people to try out.
In addition to this, there will also be a golf simulator to practice your swing and a play area which will include an inflatable slide, bouncy castle and obstacle course.
Throughout the day, people will also be able to get healthy living advice and health checks.
There will also be free fruit and drink and demonstrations on how to make healthy and delicious cocktails and smoothies.
Hugh Sweeney, NHS Lanarkshire’s employee director, is overseeing the organisation of the event.
He said: “Everything’s in place for what is set to be a fantastic day for all the family.
“We really believe we will have something for everyone and our tented village means that even if the weather doesn’t live up to expectation, people will still be able to enjoy the day and take part in all the events we have to offer.”
NHS Lanarkshire's Diamond Anniversary family Sunday Fun Day takes place in Strathclyde Park on Sunday, June 22, between 11am-4pm.
The event is free and there is free car parking.
