A NUMBER of groups in the Hamilton area have hit the cash jackpot.
Last week, South Lanarkshire Council’s Hamilton area committee approved the following community grant awards:
1st Larkhall Girls’ Brigade — £300 for a special event; Bothwell Mother and Toddler Group — £500 for equipment, outings and publicity costs; Meikle Earnock Residents’ and Tenants’ Association — £300 for publicity costs and a special event; Brighter Bothwell — £400 for an environmental project; Hamilton South 60+ Activity Club — £250 for a special event; South Lanarkshire Weelchair Curling Club — £400 for equipment; Burnblea Gardens Tenants’ and Residents’ Association — £200 for an outing; Burnbank Parish Church Women’s Fellowship Guild, Hamilton — £200 for an outing; Hillhouse 60+ Sequence Dance Club, Hamilton — £250 for an outing; Larkhall Congregational Women’s Fellowship — £200 for an outing; Bothwell Parish Church Guild — £200 for an outing; Whitehill Ladies’ Bowling Club, Hamilton — £200 for an outing; Trinity Church Guild, Larkhall — £250 for an outing and entrance fees; Woodhead Art Club, Hamilton — £450 for an outing and equipment; Our Lady and St Anne’s Keep Fit and Social Club, Hamilton — £350 for an outing and equipment; Nisbet Daycare Centre Users’ Group, Larkhall — £350 for specialist transport and equipment; Ferniegair Senior Citizens, Hamilton — £200 for an outing; TACT Monday Club (senior citizens), Blantyre — £150 for an outing; Quarter Parish Church Friendship Group, Hamilton — £250 for an outing and entrance fees; 13th Hamilton Boys’ Brigade — £350 for transport costs; Bothwell and Uddingston Probus Club — £200 for an outing; Larkhall Old Age Pensioner Inter Club — £200 for an outing; Hamilton North Monday Club — £200 for an outing; Ashgill Residents’ Association — £500 for equipment, an outing and entrance fees; Lanarkshire Kidney Patients’ Association, Airdrie — £350 for specialist transport and entrance fees; Blantyre Old Parish Church Guild — £200 for an outing; St Andrew’s Church, Blantyre — £200 for an outing; Lanarkshire Ethnic Minority Action Group — £500 for a special event and health project.
The committee also made the following twinning hosting and travel grants:
Bothwell Twinning Association (BTA) — £800 for a twinning hosting grant for a social/sporting exchange with Jouy-en-Josas, France; Bothwell Twinning Association — £850 for a twinning travel grant for a social/sporting exchange with Jouy-en-Josas, France; Hamilton Rugby Club — £880 for a twinning hosting grant with Chatellerault, France.
The allocation for the Hamilton area is £52,000. A total of £25,150 has so far been disbursed.
