HAMILTON and District Battalion Boys’ Brigade have ended a successful session with two church parades.
The first, for the Junior Section (Quarterdeck), was on Sunday, March 30, to Hamilton Old Parish. The annual church parade on Sunday, May 11, was led by their pipe band through the streets of Stonehouse to St Ninian’s Church.
The following trophies were presented:
Junior Section cross country — 1st Stonehouse; board games — 217th Gilbertfield; PA — 2nd Blantyre; general knowledge — 217th Gilbertfield; figure marching — 2nd Blantyre; junior bible — 5th Hamilton and 1st Stonehouse; senior bible — 1st Stonehouse.
The following boys gained 100 per cent in the junior bible — Alex McLean and Cameron McDonald, 5th Hamilton; Nathan Epemou, 12th Hamilton; Jack Gemmell, 13th Hamilton; Mitchell Wilson, 2nd Blantyre; Scott Bowie, 1st Stonehouse. Winners of the James Reid Achievement Trophy for best overall junior section were 2nd Blantyre.
Company Section sports — 2nd Hamilton; ten-pin bowling — 2nd Blantyre; Masterteam — 1st Bothwell; elementary drill — 1st Bothwell; squad drill — 1st Bothwell; junior bible — 10th Hamilton; senior bible — 1st Dalserf; best NCO taking the elementary drill squad — Ross Crichton, 1st Bothwell; highest in junior bible — Sean Smith, 9th Hamilton; highest in senior bible — Stuart McLaughlan, 2nd Blantyre.
Winners of the William Thomson Trophy for best Company Section went to 2nd Hamilton. The MacDougall Trophy for best overall Company, including Anchor Boys, Junior Section and Company Section, was presented to the 2nd Blantyre.
