Hamilton Vue will show classic films - and Girls Aloud concert

A SEASON of classic movies, celebrating some of the best cinematic performances of the last century, has started at the Vue Cinema in Hamilton.

Every Monday for 15 weeks, film fans will be entertained by screen icons such as Bette Davis, Humphrey Bogart, Clint Eastwood, Elizabeth Taylor, James Stewart and Clark Gable, in a range of classic westerns, musicals, thrillers and romances.

Fans of the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, can relive the tension of North by Northwest and Dial M for Murder.

James Dean devotees can enjoy the legendary pin-up’s star performances in Rebel Without a Cause and East of Eden.

Musical lovers can sing and dance their way through Wizard of Oz and Singin’ in the Rain.

And John Wayne wannabes can marvel at John Ford’s genre-defining western The Searchers and take a look at a more comedic cowboy tale, Blazing Saddles, starring Gene Wilder.

So whether you are revisiting a much-loved classic or discovering a new favourite, Movies That Matter has something for everyone.

Meanwhile, Girls Aloud have joined forces with Vue Entertainment to give fans across the UK the chance to see their Tangled Up tour ‘Larger Than Live’ on the big screen in Hamilton.

As part of Vue’s pioneering ‘Larger Than Live’ events, for one night only on Saturday, May 17, one of Britain’s most successful girl groups will broadcast live to 50 Vue cinemas across the country, direct from London’s O2 Arena.

Using the latest High Definition Digital technology and 5:1 Dolby Surround Sound, the show will capture all the excitement of the atmosphere of the live show.
