Teenager denies carrying Samurai sword

A HAMILTON teenager is alleged to have carried a Samurai sword in a street in the town.

Michael Cairney, of Jeanette Avenue, was charged with having the weapon there last Saturday.

The 17-year-old pleaded not guilty when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Sheriff Danny Scullion set the trial date for June 9.

He granted Cairney bail in the meantime.
