Snooker star Hendry to open Hamilton store

Snooker star Stephen Hendry

A NEW electronics store will open in Hamilton on Saturday, creating 13 new jobs.

Maplin, who sponsor the UK Snooker Championship, will open at the Palace Grounds Retail Park.

Seven-times world champion Stephen Hendry MBE will perform the opening ceremony.

Doors will open at 9am, with Stephen officially declaring the store open at 1pm.

Customers will be given the opportunity to challenge the snooker champ to a game on a Nintendo Wii, offering customers that once-in-a-lifetime experience to pit their wits against the star.

The new store has generated 13 new jobs in the Hamilton area.

Store manager Eddie Tollan said: ”We are delighted to extend our operations in this part of Scotland.”

Maplin began as a components shop and in 30 years has grown to become one of the UK’s leading specialist electronics retailer.

Customers who have experienced Maplin offerings online, via the catalogue or in other stores will find something very different about the new Hamilton store — a whole new store concept.

Regional manager Chris Jeffries said: “We have worked hard to make the design, layout and signage much easier and enjoyable for browsing.”
