A725 bridge works to start

A £450,000 bridge works project on the A725 near Blantyre (Whistleberry Industrial Estate) starts this weekend.

Drivers are being warned to expect major delays throughout the five-week project.

Traffic will travel in a contraflow on the southbound carriageway for the first phase and will transfer to the northbound carriageway for the second phase. The roundabout below the bridges (B7012) will close overnight at weekends only and a clear diversion route will be in place.

The speed limit will be reduced from 60mph to 40mph to ensure public safety.

Almost 18,000 cars travel this route every day and drivers should consider public transport options. Get advice at www.trafficscotland.org or http://www.travelinescotland.com.
