Stars set to shine for charity

A HOST of celebrities will attend a football fun day on Sunday, May 25. at King George V Park, Wishaw.

Proceeds from what promises to be a great day will go to pay for an annual Christmas party which is held for children with life-threatening illnesses.

The day kicks off at 11am, when Cambusnethan Talbot BC play Mossend BC for the Calum Speirs Memorial Trophy.

A celebrity football match will take place between the Les Hoey Select and Dukla Pumpherston.

Glasgow Airport hero John Smeaton, Peter Martin (Radio Clyde), Jose Quintongo (ex-Accies), Andy Smith (ex-Dunfermline), Willie Limond (boxing champion), Ian Ross (ex-Motherwell), Bryan Dingwall (ex-Clyde) and Dougie Ramsay (ex-Motherwell) are just a few of those who will be part of the Les Hoey team.

The Dukla Pumpherston team includes Gerry Collins (ex-Partick Thistle), John McDonald (ex-Rangers), Gerry McCabe (Dumbarton boss) and Chick Young (BBC Sport).

Special appearances will be made by Darren Smith (Motherwell FC), Andy Barrowman (Ross County), David Lilley (Kilmarnock FC), Joyce Faulkner (River City) and Victoria Cross (X Factor).

Bubbles the Clown will entertain from noon-1pm, with Merlin the Magician on from 1.30-2.30pm and the Alakazam Puppet Show from 2.30-3.30pm.

Admission costs £2 for adults and £1 for children and OAPs.
