Sex case man made threat to kill Hamilton sheriff

A 36-YEAR-OLD man has admitted threatening to kill a sheriff at a Hamilton court.

Kenneth McLew phoned Hamilton Sheriff Court on January 8 this year.

During a conversation with a member of court staff at the Beckford Street building, he threatened to murder a sheriff.

The breach of the peace, which was committed while McLew was on bail for another matter, was admitted by the 36-year-old last month.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court last week, Sheriff David Bicket deferred sentence until later this month for additional reports to be obtained.

On January 4, four days before the crime involving the threat, McLew was bailed at the court by Sheriff Vincent Smith.

He was in court charged with an act of public indecency.

On June 11, 2006, at the Holiday Inn in East Kilbride’s Stewartfield Way, McLew committed a sexual act in front of a member of staff.

It is understood he had booked into the hotel that day for a body wax.

He admitted the offence in April last year and was subsequently put on the Sex Offenders’ Register.

McLew, of Pollockshields, Glasgow, was also banned from visiting beauticians for the rest of his life.

On January 4, Sheriff Smith deferred sentence on the public indecency charge until December for McLew to be of good behaviour.
