Jazz group to perform at Christian Aid events

ST. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Auchingramont Road, Hamilton, is to host two special Christian Aid events this weekend.

John Rapson, the famous American jazz trombonist, and a group of musicians from Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Iowa will visit on Saturday and Sunday.

The jazz group will perform between 10am and 4pm at Saturday’s art & craft exhibition.

Local artists will sell their paintings to visitors at the exhibition and give 25 per cent of the profits to Christian Aid.

Last year, St. Mary’s raised £1500 for the overseas aid charity.

On Sunday, the jazz musicians join the congregation for a special Pentecost celebration.

On Sunday at 6pm, more jazz will be performed at a joint service with other churches in Hamilton.
