SOUTH Lanarkshire Council are looking to the future of changing housing needs in the first Scotland-wide review of its kind in a decade.
Councillors at the housing and technical resources committee this month approved the council’s submission to the Scottish Government’s Green Paper ‘Firm Foundations: The Future of Housing in Scotland’.
The Scottish Government have four key aims in terms of housing policy.
These are: increasing the number of houses in Scotland for rent and sale and introducing higher environmental standards for them; offering a greater choice of housing that people on low incomes can afford; helping create sustainable mixed communities and achieving better value for public money spent on housing.
An update on the next stage of consultation process will come back to committee for discussion.
