Grants handed out to Hamilton groups

A NUMBER of groups in the Hamilton area have hit the cash jackpot.

This week, South Lanarkshire Council’s Hamilton area committee approved the following community grant awards:

Key Fitness, Hamilton — £400 for equipment; Machanhill Stitchers, Larkhall — £250 for an outing and entrance fees; Sui Loong Karate Club — £400 for equipment; South Church Men’s Fellowship, Hamilton — £250 for an outing and entrance fees.

John Ogilvie High School PTA, Burnbank — £400 for equipment; Uddingston Pride, Uddingston — £500 for an environmental project; Hamilton Senior Citizens’ Meeting — £200 for an outing; Hareleeshill Senior Citizens’ Club, Larkhall — £200 for an outing; Family Mediation South Lanarkshire, Hamilton — £300 for publicity costs.

Low Waters Miners’ Welfare Ladies’ Section — £200 for an outing; St Machan’s Church Friendship Circle, Larkhall — £200 for an outing; Larkhall Burns Club — £250 for a special event; Chalmers Indoor Bowling Club, Larkhall — £400 for equipment.

Hamilton and District Probus Club — £250 for an outing and entrance fees; Royal Albert Junior Football Club — £200 for equipment; Fifty Plus Club, Burnbank — £200 for an outing; Hamilton Visually Impaired Club — £200 for an outing.

Trinity Church Woman’s Group — £250 for an outing and entrance fees; Women’s Guild Hamilton United Reform Church — £200 for an outing; Argyle Men’s Club, Burnbank — £200 for an outing; The Wednesday Social and Bowling Club — £200 for an outing.

Arts and Sculpture Club, Hamilton — £200 for an outing; Inter Cultural Milan Club, Hamilton — £450 for an outing, equipment and special event; Hieton Writers’ Group — £250 for equipment and publication costs; Quarter in Bloom — £350 for equipment.

Cameo Hillhouse Parish Church, Hamilton — £200 for an outing; Hillhouse Parish Church Holiday Club, Hamilton — £250 for an outing and entrance fees; Fairhill and Laighstonhall Leisure Club, Hamilton — £200 for an outing.

Hamilton South Presbyterial Council Guild — £200 for an outing; Over-60s Exercise Class, Uddingston — £250 for an outing and entrance fees; Dalserf Church Guild — £200 for an outing; Hamilton Volunteer Group — £400 for a special event.

St Andrew’s Church Guild Holiday Club, Hamilton — £200 for an outing; The Happy Hour, Larkhall Baptist Church — £200 for an outing; Bothwell Philharmonic Choir — £250 for equipment; Hamilton South Church Guild — £200 for an outing.

Larkhall United — £499 for special event; Whitehill Senior Citizens’ Bowling Club, Hamilton — £200 for an outing.

The committee also approved the following play scheme grant awards:

Hamilton After School Project — £600; Larkhall Universal Connections — £600; Strutherhill Activity Group, Larkhall — £500.

Free Time Children’s Club, Blantyre — £600; Hamilton and Clydesdale Women’s Aid — £400; Hamilton Lone Parents (Jumping Beans) — £500; Whitehill Universal Connections, Hamilton — £600; Bell Nursery Out of School Club, Hamilton — £600; Hamilton Universal Connections — £600.

Childcare in the Community, Hamilton — £600; Hamilton Information Project for Youth — £400; Westpark After School, Hamilton — £600; Tenants’ Association Coatshill Thornhill (TACT) Playscheme, Blantyre — £400.

The allocation for the Hamilton area is £52,000. A total of £10,050 in community grants and £7000 in playscheme grants were disbursed
