Young driver facing drinks charge is detained in custody

A MOTHERWELL man has denied forcing a police car to swerve off the road after he allegedly drove down a one-way street in the wrong direction.

Bartomej Wysocki (22), of Glencairn Tower, allegedly drove a car at speed towards the police vehicle on Hamilton Road and Main Street in Bellshill.

When he appeared in court, Wysocki further denied driving on the same day with 114 microgrammes of alcohol in his breath.

The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court last week, Sheriff Shiona Waldron refused bail and ordered Wysocki to be detained in custody.

Sheriff Waldron also set the trial for a date in April.
