ALL-ROUND entertainer Tam Cowan this week officially opened a new Marie Curie Cancer Care shop in Hamilton.
Media personality Tam cut the ribbon outside the new shop at 14 Quarry Place, and welcomed shoppers into the new store.
He said: “I was delighted to open this fantastic new Marie Curie Cancer Care shop.
“Every penny you spend in the shop will help provide Marie Curie nurses, who offer such wonderful care for terminally ill people in their own homes.
“Their support means people can spend their final days with dignity, surrounded by the people they love the most.
“I would urge people to support their shop – it helps provide such an essential local service.”
The new shop replaces the previous one at 10 Brandon Street, Hamilton, which recently closed its doors.
The new premises are bigger and offer customers an even wider choice of donated stock, plus ranges of new fashion accessories including jewellery, scarves and handbags.
The shop also stocks home wares including picture frames, cushions and vases.
Tam was joined by Marie Curie nurse Norma Campbell, who cares for people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses in the Hamilton area.
Norma said: “There are lots of ways local people can support their new Marie Curie Cancer Care shop. Why not donate some items, buy a gift for someone or a treat for yourself, or give up a few hours to volunteer?
“However you get involved, you will help provide Marie Curie nurses like me, who care for patients in your local area.”
The Hamilton Shop is looking for volunteers to carry out tasks including sorting, pricing and displaying stock and helping customers.
Anyone interested should contact Marie Curie Cancer Care Shop manager Lorna Henderson on 01698 422623.
