Three J5 classes at Hamilton College have been hard at work this term learning all about the language, cultures and customs of France, Spain and Italy and to celebrate all their efforts and success they held a European Day on Monday.
The children hand-made all their own invitations and sent these out to all their parents, school governors and other dignitaries, including MSP Michael McMahon.
Helped by teachers Carol Haire, Eleanor Turner and Elissa Leatham, the children enthusiastically decorated the school hall and displayed artwork of the Eiffel Tower and the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
Guests were welcomed to the European café, with tables bedecked in the colours of European flags and were waited on by pupils dressed in traditional European costumes and demonstrating their language skills.
French, Spanish and Italian food was on offer as guests were entertained by a collection of European-inspired performances.
