Jobs agency celebrate milestone

ROUTES To Work South reached another significant milestone when they celebrated helping their 600th person into work this year.

RTWS, who have offices in Burnbank, Hillhouse and Lanark, work with anyone in South Lanarkshire who is unemployed and looking for a job.

They beat last year’s total of 533 people helped into employment.

The 600th client helped into a job was Atiq Rehman from Blantyre. After seven years out of work, Atiq is now a production worker with Lightbody Celebration Cakes in Hamilton.

During his time with RTWS, Atiq was also supported by Healthy Working Lives and Working for Families to get him ready for work.

Ian Hepburn, RTWS general manager, said “Getting 600 people into employment is a great achievement and a superb effort by all our staff.

“I’d also like to thank the many partners we work with. Without their training, health, financial and childcare support we couldn't have achieved this success.”
