Past President medals for choir duo

HAMILTON Caledonian Bowling Club’s David Murray and Gavin Lawson have been awarded past president medals.

The jubilant pair were given the awards to mark their time as office bearers with the choir.

Mrs Mary Paterson also received a medal at the ceremony on behalf of her late father Bob Campbell who was the second president of the choir.

Despite great efforts, no trace could be found of any relatives of the choir’s first president Jimmy Wilson.

Jim Spreckley, the choir’s president, said: “Although the choir has been performing for 62 years, I am only the fifth member to hold the office of President.

“The choir are extremely grateful for this generous donation to award the medals which are unique as they were designed specially for our past presidents.”

The group have been busy fund-raising for a number of charities and have recently launched their website at www.hamiltoncaleychoir.org.uk

The new website means that everyone can keep in touch with the club’s activities.
