A HAMILTON woman celebrated her 100th birthday last week, and received a special message from the Queen.
On Wednesday, November 11, Provost Russell Clearie attended the100th birthday celebrations of Joan Johnson from Abercorn Nursing Home, Hamilton.
Born Joanna More in Hamilton, she has lived in the town all her life. The youngest of four children, Joan attended Woodside School then worked at the Co-op.
She continued to work as a shop assistant in the confectionery and grocery trade until she retired aged 60.
Her husband, Jack Johnson, died in 1987, aged 82.
Joan has two daughters, Sheila and Anne,four grandchildren Alison, Tracy, Neil andPaul, and two great-grandchildren Ethan and Jacob.
She celebrated her birthday at Abercorn with family and friends.
Daughter Anne and her husband Richard and her two grandsons Neil and Paul travelled from Canada to attend the special birthday celebrations.
