Conservatory plans granted

PLANS to convert a conservatory in a Bothwell house into a sunroom were this week approved despite attracting the ire of several neighbours.

William O’Connor’s plans for his Arran Way home involve removing the existing conservatory and installing a solid pitched and tiled roof.

The new building would be 30cm higher than the conservatory, which stands at 3.6m. The height of the new building was one of the causes of six letters of objection from neighbours. Objections also included the use of grey roof tiles on the building and the timing of the neighbourhood notification process.

However, planning chief Iain Urquhart pointed out that conditions would be attached to approval to ensure the roof tiles would match the tiles on the existing building.

Mr Urquhart also stressed that he was satisfied that the neighbourhood notification and validation process had been adequately carried out.
