Airgun woman is fined £600

A BLANTYRE woman has been fined £600 for brandishing an air gun at a man and a woman before carrying out an assault.

Linda Gibson (24) of 100 Camelon Crescent, placed Leeann Gibson and Stephen Orr in a state of fear and alarm by shouting, swearing and brandishing the weapon at 102 Camelon Crescent on September 27 this year.

On the same day, again at 102 Camelon Crescent, Gibson assaulted Leeann Gibson by pushing her on the body, punching her on the head and kicking her on the body.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court last week Gibson denied the assault and the breach of the peace at the outset of a trial, but during the course of the proceedings she admitted the offences.

Her not guilty plea to a charge of assaulting Stephen Orr at the address in Camelon Crescent by repeatedly punching him and biting him on the body was accepted by the Crown.

Gibson’s not guilty pleas to smashing a glass pane of a door at the house and possessing the air gun in Camelon Crescent were also accepted by the Crown.

Sheriff Shiona Waldron fined Gibson £400 for the breach of the peace and an additional £200 for the assault.
