Blantyre Youth admits wood attack

A BLANTYRE youth has admitted throwing a piece of wood at another man in a town shop.

Barry Smith (16), of Sandale Path, assaulted James Lees in the Spar store in Stonefield Road on April 17 this year.

The piece of wood injured Mr Lees’ hand.

Smith also assaulted Joyce Young by spitting on her at the shop on the same day.

Smith admitted both offences in July.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, Sheriff Danny Scullion deferred sentence until September 12 and called for reports.

Smith was detained in custody.
