Haven Centre in Blantyre gets cash boost

THE Haven Centre in Blantyre has received a cheque for £2500 from property and construction professionals.

David Mackenzie and Gordon Johnstone of Spifox visited the Haven recently to make the presentation.

Spifox was launched in 1983 by a group of property and construction professionals who hold a number of charity events throughout the year.

The objective of the group is to raise money for children's charities throughout Scotland. The money donated by Spifox has helped to pay for materials and equipment in the family services room at The Haven.

While visiting the Haven they met David Bain, who is the child and family support worker at the centre. He told them about the range of support and information services provided to young people who have a family member with cancer, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease or Parkinson's, or who are coming to terms with a family bereavement.

Supporters of The Haven will be bagpacking as ASDA in Blantyre on Saturday, August 30, between 10am and 4pm.
