Bailed Blantyre man in trouble

A BLANTYRE man last week breached his bail order only hours after it was granted by a Sheriff.

James Kennedy (31), of Victoria Street, was bailed on the condition that he didn’t approach Tracey McCarroll or enter an address in Ivy Place, Blantyre.

He had earlier appeared in court charged with trying to remove a ring from Ms McCaroll’s finger while attempting to rob her. Kennedy denied the assault and attempted robbery, which was said to have taken place earlier this month at an address in Ivy Place.

But after he was bailed on August 11 by Sheriff Joyce Powrie, he went straight back to the Blantyre address and made contact with Ms McCarroll.

He was subsequently arrested and held in custody before appearing before Sheriff Powrie the following day, when he admitted breaching the bail condition.

Sheriff Powrie deferred sentence on Kennedy for reports until September 10 and released him on bail. However, on this occasion, she did not add any special conditions.
