Prince's Trust team lend helping hand at NCH Silverton

THE Hamilton Prince’s Trust Team, operating out of Motherwell College, has put lots more fun into the lives of the special children who visit NCH Silverton Short Breaks in Hamilton.

The six volunteer team members from Blantyre, Hamilton and Motherwell spent a week in June painting games and educational activities on the fences and pavements round the Silverton facility.

The children staying for a short break at Silverton have severe and complex disabilities so the new additions will help add even more enjoyment to their experiences there.

Hamilton Prince’s Trust Team 21 first had to raise the funds for the project by bag packing at Somerfield, Hamilton, and selling football cards.

Once that was done, their painting included hopscotch on the pavement, beanbag targets and letters of the alphabet on the fences.

The participants were team leader Alasdair Head, assistant team leaders Scott Ferguson and Sami Thomson, and John Newlands, Leanne Brown, Natalie Lynn, Greg Anderson and Martin Murphy.
