Order of the Eastern Star centenary

THE Order of the Eastern Star Priory chapter No.21 last week celebrated their centenary.

The order was established on May 19, 1908, and first convened in Blantyre Masonic Hall, although they have been based at Larkfield Neighbourhood Hall for over 10 years.

The special guest at the celebration on June 3, Provost Russell Clearie, presented worthy matron Jean Gardiner with a Rosebowl.

He said: “Your chapter has come a long way since the founding men and women got together to allow like-minded people to gather, socialise and help others, and I hope your organisation will carry on its charitable work for the next 100 years.”
