Haven cash boost

Haven cash boost

BLANTYRE-based charity The Haven has received £500 from the Strathclyde Police Community Well-Being fund.

The group were nominated by local community police officer PC Graham Rankin, who used to be stationed in Blantyre.

The fund is used to support local groups in the community. The money was used to provide IT equipment for the new staff nurse post at The Haven.

It was great news for The Haven’s staff nurse Stacey Coke and fundraiser Connie Postlethwaite.

Stacey joined the multidisciplinary team at The Haven recently and works closely with The Haven’s specialist nurse Brenda Senior.

Stacey said: “This means that even more families and their carers will receive information, support and specialist advice at The Haven.”

Stacey is involved with the Headstrong service, in conjunction with Breast Cancer Care, and runs the Multiple Sclerosis support group in The Haven. It provides peer group support, info from health professionals and community-based projects which can improve and enhance the quality of life of people who have multiple sclerosis.

The group meet at The Haven on the last Thursday of each month from 1.30pm- 3pm.

Clients, carers and families are all welcome to attend. Contact Stacey on 01698 727884 for more information or visit www.thehavencentre.com
