Youths bring a European atmosphere

BLANTYRE is ready to welcome some young people from across Europe in an exchange programme.

Last year, a group from Terminal One travelled to Sweden to take part in a youth exchange.

Since then, they have been preparing to host their friends from the Scandinavian country and as well as other young people from around the continent.

Youths from a range of countries as diverse as Iceland, Italy, Sweden and Turkey are due to arrive in Scotland on Monday, June 16.

The youngsters will all work together for ten days to explore the theme of social inclusion.

The group from Terminal One have been working to raise funds throughout the year to gather the necessary finance for the project.

This Saturday, June 14, they will be holding a coffee morning to raise further funds.

The event will run from 10am to noon and will be held in the newly-refurbished Terminal One Cafe, in the Logan Street centre.

Everyone is welcome to pop in for a coffee and a cake, and all support from the community will be greatly appreciated by the group.
