Blantyre dance troupe delighted at success

THE Elaine Wedlock School of Dance recently enjoyed two sell-out shows at East Kilbride’s Village Theatre.

The school, who rehearse at Blantyre’s Larkfield Hall on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, performed in front of family and friends.

This week, Elaine Wedlock commented: “We were delighted how both shows went, especially with over 90 dancers performing.

“It was particularly pleasing to see the boys’ contribution this year.

“For the first time, I did a hip-hop class with them and the audience absolutely loved it.

“Hopefully this will encourage even more boys to come along.”

The dance school, who also rehearse in Hamilton, are planning to expand into East Kilbride in the coming months.

On Tuesday, August 18, an enrolment night will be held to find some new dancers to join the school’s ranks.

The school caters for a number of different dance styles including disco, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary and musical theatre.

Last year, members of the school won a number of prizes at the British Isles Disco freestyle and hip-hop championships held in Prestatyn, Wales.

The 13 Blantyre girls greatly impressed the judges and were delighted to return home clutching a big batch of silverware.
