Drinks-driver had been disqualified

A DISQUALIFIED Blantyre driver who drove a car while three-and-a-half times over the alcohol limit has been put on probation.

Stephen Selby (20), of Camelon Crescent, drove in St Leonards Road in East Kilbride on March 21 while disqualified.

Selby was driving with no insurance and had 120 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

He admitted the offences on March 28.

A few weeks earlier, on February 29, Selby was disqualified from driving for a year and fined £225 for committing another driving offence.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court, Selby was placed on probation for 12 months by Sheriff Vincent Smith.

As part of the order, he must carry out 120 hours’ unpaid work in the community.

Selby was also disqualified from driving for three years.
