Mum will meet top singer after winning radio quiz

Andrea Kerr

A HIGH BLANTYRE mum-of-six has won a trip to Hollywood.

Andrea Kerr (36), of Main Street, will be jetting off on a luxury holiday to Los Angeles after winning a competition on Smooth Radio.

Andrea and partner Simon Scott (31) left for the United States on Saturday and will see singer Jack Savoretti play live at the legendary House of Blues club on Sunset Boulevard.

For the duration of their five-day visit to LA, the couple will stay in a Hollywood hotel and will have the chance to meet Savoretti at an exclusive showbiz cocktail party.

With the help of her sister, Andrea managed to correctly answer the Los Angeles-related questions on the Mark Goodier Show.

Andrea said: “I heard some ads on the radio for the competition and just thought I would go for it. After the show, Mark said I sounded very calm considering I had just won the holiday but in truth I was in shock.

“I can’t believe I have won. I didn’t really know who Jack Savoretti was but since I have won I have downloaded everything I could find of his on the internet. He is quite good!”

Andrea found out she had won when she got to her work at NB Leisure in Larkhall on April 11.

She is an assistant manager at the bingo hall.

“It was only when a lady from the radio phoned me to confirm the holiday that it really sunk in,” added Andrea.

Three of her children — Shannon (10), Paige (9) and Ciaran (8) — attend St Joseph’s Primary School in Blantyre.

Jordan Sim (15) and Caitlin Sim (13) both study at Clydebank High School while Andrea’s oldest child Alistair Sim (17) is in the Merchant Navy.

The children will stay with friends and family while their mother is away.

Andrea added: “I’m still in shock but we are really looking forward to the trip. The kids keep asking if they can come with me!”
