Blantyre ramblers' seven super walks

BLANTYRE Hillwalking and Rambling Club enjoyed good weather for their outing to Tyndrum last Saturday.

A walk along the West Highland Way from Crianlarich, including a diversion into Glen Cononish, an ascent of Ben Dubhchraig and Ben Oss, an ice climb up the central gully of Ben Lui, as well as a more conventional ascent of the hill were among the seven routes walked.

Three groups ascended corbetts.

Some members walked into Glen Cononish and climbed Beinn Chuirn, while another tackled the three corbetts to the north of Tyndrum (Cam Chreag, Beinn Chaorach and Beinn Odhar). A third group settled for Beinn Odhar.

The next outing will be to the Laggan area this Saturday, April 26, and will include an ascent of Ben Teallach, which will be Peter Cornfield s last Munro.

A good turnout is hoped for to join Peter’s celebration, and the bus will leave at 7.30am. The usual Tuesday planning meeting will take place at 7.30pm at Blantyre Miner s Welfare.
