Driver denies booze charge

A DISQUALIFIED Blantyre driver has denied being at the wheel while almost three-and-a-half times the legal alcohol limit.

Stephen Selby (20), of Camelon Crescent, denied a charge of driving on St Leonard’s Road, East Kilbride, last Friday while disqualified from driving.

He further denied charges of driving with no insurance, and driving with 120 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on the same street.

The legal limit is 35 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Selby appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court last Saturday and Sheriff David Bicket set a trial date for next month.

Bail was refused and Selby was detained in custody.
