Grammar pupils have real designs on improving fitness of the county people

HAMILTON Grammar S2 pupils were asked to design a health promoting graphic image with accompanying slogan for the local sports complex, Esporta.

This was completed during time in class and at lunchtimes in the art and design department.

The two winners were picked from each participating class by the managers of Esporta.

Megan Barr and Nicole Reid of 2P4, Craig Porteous and Caitlin Timlin of 2P10, Jordan Thomson and David Stirrat of 2P7.

From these six finalists, the overall winner in the competition was David Stirrat with "Running makes the world of difference" (pictured front right in photo). In second place was Caitlin Timlin for "The healthy choice is the happy choice" (front middle in photo) and third place went to Jordan Thomson for "Make a healthy lifestyle your goal" (front left in photo).

The six winning designs were printed professionally as posters and can be seen displayed around the school and in the local branch of Esporta.

The other slogans are "A healthy diet, why don't you try it?" by Nicole Reid; "It's your choice to make, but don't choose the cake" from Megan Barr, and "Basketball Good, TV Remote Bad" by Craig Porteous.

Lianne Paterson, art teacher said that she was very proud of all the pupils involved in the project, especially for the dedication and creativity they all showed.
