Primary school plans outlined

PLANS have been submitted for Bothwell’s new £8m primary school.

The school’s 312 pupils are currently studying in Hamilton while preparatory work for the new building is underway.

Demolition of the existing building has already begun and is expected to be finished by the end of April.

Work on the new two-storey building is scheduled to be complete by 2010.

The pupil entrance will remain in Blantyre Road.

Features of the new school will include a gym, kitchen, stage, library, a bio-mass plant room and learning garden and a ‘mega pitch’ for a range of sports.

The bio mass boiler, which is being installed as part of the council’s renewable energy strategy will burn recycled wood pellets.
