Pupils’ photographs chosen for calendar

STRATHAVEN ACADEMY fourth-year pupils Katie Lamb and Mhairi Anderson entered photographs into the Chevron Focus Environment photography competition for secondary pupils across Scotland - and some were selected to appear in the Focus Environment 2009 Calendar.

Elspeth Banks, head teacher at Strathaven Academy, said: “The standard of entries was extremely high and the school was delighted to hear of the success of Katie and Mhairi.”

Katie's photograph was entitled ‘Snow Capped Peaks’ and Mhairi’s was called ‘Wings’.

MSP Linda Fabiani was so impressed by the quality that she wrote to congratulate the photographers.

Katie said: “Mhairi and I were delighted our photographs were selected in this major competition, given the overwhelming response by Scottish schools.

“Over 100 entries were submitted by Strathaven Academy pupils alone.”
