Accies player helps kids know the score about healthy living

PUPILS at St Joseph’s Primary, Blantyre, enjoyed a visit from a Hamilton Accies player recently as part of their Health Week.

Australian Trent McClenahan, along with Accies sports scientist Ross Hughes, visited the school to talk about diet and general exercise and fitness.

The visit was part of a programme of events that ran throughout the week to promote awareness of healthy eating and exercising for pupils.

Other speakers included representatives from Strathclyde Police, the Fire Service, Sainsbury’s and Blantyre Sports Centre.

Kids also took part in physical activities and were advised on health foods, while a roadshow took place in the school’s main hall with stalls providing information on healthy-eating, first aid and exercise.

Parents were also invited to go along and visit the school during the roadshow.The teachers at St Joseph’s also took part in an after-school netball match and were offered health checks.
