AUCHINRAITH Primary School pupils enjoyed a visit by Scotland’s first Cooking Bus, which aimed to teach youngsters and the benefits of healthy eating.
The roadshow can provide classes and cookery workshops, as well as host talks on nutrition and hygiene, so the pupils learned at first-hand how to cook and enjoy healthy food.
Sandra Kelly, a teacher at Auchinraith Primary School, said: “The Cooking Bus has been a great experience for the pupils. Not only does it teach children cooking skills, it also emphasises good nutrition and hygiene.
“The visit has clearly helped pupils build self-confidence and critical awareness of food choices. Crucially, the dietary health messages are backed up by the practicalities of choosing, preparing and cooking food.”
She added: “Everyone here would recommend other schools to get involved in the project.”
