CHILDREN throughout Lanarkshire are set to take part in a potato-growing competition.
They will be given seed potatoes and compost and have until the end of June to grow a crop in the classroom.
The Royal Highland Education Trust’s annual ‘Count and Grow’ project is co-organised by Clydesdale Bank and will be launched in Lanarkshire at the Express by Holiday Inn, Strathclyde Park, on Tuesday.
The competition is in its fifth year and pupils also have to prepare a project work book.
Last year’s winner was Ettrick Primary, in the Borders, who have only 11 pupils on their roll.
