Basketball heroes deliver the healthy message to youngsters in Hamilton

SCOTTISH Rocks basketball team members visited St Elizabeth`s Primary School just before their Christmas break to talk to the children about healthy eating, keeping fit and alcohol and cigarette misuse.

The kids enjoyed the talk as well as a chance to ‘shoot some hoops’.

The team are currently touring Scotland with their health message and keep fit regime training and playing basketball.

They are using the basketball keep-fit message as a forerunner to fund after-school clubs and school activities next year.

Children from the Hamilton school got the chance to win tickets for home games in the Kelvin Hall and one boy won the title of team mascot for another home game.

Christine Emmet from St Elizabeth’s said: “These athletes are brilliant role models for all the older children and have a great opportunity to promote their health message and the development of playing basketball in schools and community projects.”
