Pupils given valuable insight into MSP’s life

A GROUP of Clydesdale youngsters were given the chance to quiz one of their local MSPs this week.

The pupils from Douglas Primary School met Aileen Campbell, SNP MSP for the South of Scotland, during a visit to Holyrood as part of the Scottish Parliament’s Education Service programme.

Schools can arrange for a custom-made visit to the Parliament’s Edinburgh HQ, which includes a tour of the building, a special information pack, and the chance to speak directly to their MSPs.

Aileen Campbell chatted to the group for around half an hour, answering questions about life as an MSP and the Scottish Parliament.

Speaking after the visit, Aileen Campbell, who lives in Clydesdale, said: “I was delighted to meet with the students from Douglas, who were full of enthusiastic and thoughtful questions.

“Hopefully, it was a useful session for them and they enjoyed their visit to the Scottish Parliament.”

“The Education Service at Holyrood provide excellent facilities for school groups of all ages.

“I would encourage any teacher interested in taking a party through to get in touch to set up a visit.”
