Pupils are in the pink for charity

INSTEAD of celebrating Halloween tomorrow (Friday), Stonehouse Primary pupils will focus their activities as an ECOTASTIC school.

Teachers and pupils will be encouraged to wear pink on the day, with donations going to Cancer Research UK.

Last Friday, pupils attended an assembly where classes were allocated either a health task or an Eco assignment. Some of the ventures have been tied to the schools’ developing links with Malawi.

The school is planning a special ‘Walk to Malawi’ expedition, when pupils will measure the playground, playing field, gym hall and corridors.

Each time pupils walk, run or jog around one of the circuits they record their score, and these are added to reveal how many kilometres have been covered.

These will then be displayed in corridors to show how far the pupils have travelled, and they will be encouraged to bring in postcards and photos of the latest town reached.

In total there are 19 countries to travel through.
