A BIG-hearted group of S6 pupils from Hamilton College visited Burkina Faso in West Africa as a Transform Team through Tearfund.
The pupils worked hard to raise the funds for the trip throughout last year and were rewarded by having a life-enhancing experience of a people and culture very different from Scotland.
The group of 10 pupils and five adults visited schools in both the capital city of Ouagadougou and in the small settlement of Gourcy, as well as a medical centre and the site of a new Skills Training Facility.
They painted a new pharmacy building, mended broken fences, planted trees and organised games and activities with local children.
In the area of Boulmieougou, they visited a school which has nursery, primary and secondary departments and it is hoped to partner with this school in the future. Its head teacher is visiting Hamilton College in November to explore ways in which to develop the relationship further.
