BECKFORD Primary pupil Ian Sneddon proudly holds the Margaret McNab Citizenship Award, after becoming the first to win the school’s special prize.

The Auchinraith Avenue school was approached by a former pupil this year, who wished to present a trophy in memory of her grandmother, a deeply religious woman who always put God and others first in everything she did.

Headteacher Mrs Doreen Gibson was delighted to be given the trophy, and it was agreed to present it annually to a pupil who had best demonstrated good citizenship throughout the session.

Ian, who is moving on to Hamilton Grammar after the summer, served the pupil council as chairperson, and conducted his duties with responsibility and commitment, according to Mrs Gibson.

She added: “Ian also proved himself to be an excellent playleader with the younger children and is polite and courteous at all times.

“We are all extremely proud for Ian and his family.”
