Lent pays off for kids of St Patrick’s

PUPILS, nursery children, parents and staff at St Patrick’s Primary School raised £3710 through fundraising efforts during Lent.

The final total surpassed all expectations and during a presentation ceremony, a cheque for £2210 was presented to the Ronald McDonald House at Yorkhill Hospital, and two £750 cheques were also handed over to the British Heart Foundation and SCIAF.

Included in the final total was £470 raised by the nursery class – which in itself was a remarkable amount.

A spokesman from St Patrick’s Primary said: “The school’s pupil council is deserving of the highest praise for their organisational skills, as do the senior pupils for their committment and dedication during Lenten period.

“Their consideration for children less fortunate than themselves was evident over the six weeks by the way in which they gave unstintingly of their own time at intervals and lunch breaks, organised their stalls and donated prizes from their own pocket money – with a little help from mum and dad.

“They are a credit to their parents and the school, and well done to everybody from the primary classes and the nursery class.”
